The Young Electric Line-Up

Young Electric keeps its e-bike range focused. The E-Scout Pro is a fat tire all-terrain e-bike with a 750W motor (1,500W peak), a 48V 960Wh LG battery, 26 x 4.0-inch tyres, Logan hydraulic disc brakes with 180mm rotors and Class 3 assistance up to 28mph. It is certified to UL 2849, comes with lights, fenders and a rear rack, and is offered in a step-through version as well as the standard frame. The E-Flow is the brand’s Class 3 folding e-bike, built for commuting and storage in tighter spaces.

Alongside the bikes, Young Electric sells one of the widest ranges of hitch-mounted e-bike racks from a single brand, including platform racks for one or two heavy e-bikes on a 2-inch receiver and the foldable Fellow rack, rated for two e-bikes of up to 100 lbs each.

A Gift Checklist for E-Bikes

• Frame style: a step-through frame is easier to mount for many riders and suits shorter riders or anyone with limited hip mobility.
• Weight and storage: fat tire e-bikes are heavy, so think about where the bike will live and whether it needs to go up steps. The folding E-Flow suits apartments and smaller cars.
• Assembly: the E-Scout Pro arrives about 85% pre-assembled with a video guide, so it can be ready on Christmas morning without a trip to a bike shop.
• Warranty: Young Electric backs the E-Scout Pro with a five-year limited warranty and lifetime technical support.
• Safety certification: UL 2849 certification covers the bike’s electrical system, which many buyers now treat as a minimum.
• Local rules: Class 3 e-bikes assist up to 28mph, and some trails and paths limit them, so check where the recipient plans to ride.
• Transport: for riders who drive to trails, a hitch rack is often the accessory that gets the bike used most.

Considerations Before Buying

• Measure the recipient’s height against the frame sizing before choosing between the standard and step-through frame.
• Order early enough for delivery and assembly before the holidays.
• Add a helmet and a good lock to the order.
• If a hitch rack is part of the gift, confirm the vehicle’s receiver size and the rack’s weight rating against the bike.
